Our Core Beliefs

Document Actions
These are the beliefs Nazarenes hold to be true. They are common to Christians world–wide.

1. Trinity

We believe in one God who has expressed himself in personal ways. We know God's personality as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

2. Authority of Scripture

The Bible communicates God's saving message and is our reliable authority in all matters related to faith and Christian living.

3. Salvation by Grace

The love and grace of God is extended to every person in the provision Jesus Christ made in his death and resurrection. By turning from our own selfishness and trusting Jesus Christ, we experience a new life, being freed from the old patterns of self-destructive acts called sin.

4. Christlikeness

Our new life in Jesus Christ is the gateway to transformation. Following our moment of faith in Jesus, we believe there is another moment in which we present our life completely to Christ in order to live under his authority and to experience his transforming power.

5. Church

Those who confess Jesus Christ as Lord are called together to glorify God in local and worldwide expressions. This sacrament of Baptism signifies acceptance of the benefits of the atonement. The sacrament of Communion declares Christ's death until He comes again. All believers may participate. God heals through prayers of faith and through medical assistance.

6. Eternity

All who live have an eternal destiny. Jesus will come again and those alive will join the dead in Christ to meet Him in the air. There is a bodily resurrection of the dead followed by judgment. Those who trust in Jesus will inherit eternal life (heaven), while the unrepentant will suffer eternal death (hell).
